As the associate director of content marketing at NewsCred (now Welcome by Optimizely), I understood the critical role that visual content plays in social strategy. I held this position in 2012 at a time when image and video-based content was on the rise with massive growth across Pinterest, Instagram, and Tumblr.

In the two years prior to my joining the company, Facebook had launched Timelines, Pinterest became the third most popular social network, and Google+ relaunched with a visual-centric interface. To illustrate how visual content greatly increases the likely that it will be seen, clicked on, and result in a conversion, I conceptualized and crafted this infographic in collaboration with our design team.
